Dinosaur Portrait Gallery

The Exmouth Dinosaur Trail takes you past a neglected graffiti'd wall at the back of the Bath House Pub. It was crying out for a classy portrait gallery.

My research included meeting a wonderful gentleman Chris, who is an embassador for the Jurassic Coast Heritage Site. He talked me through his collection of models and lent me books.

He put me right on the greenery I used as a backgrounds and made sure I included the important dinosaurs, flyers, land and marine reptiles, and ammonites that are pertinent to the British Isles and the Jurassic Coast in particular.

This is a rough wall, which I had the render to be able to get a flat surface for the areas of detail. The ornate gold frames are not only reminiscent of the finest galleries but gave a visual barrier between my are and the graffiti'd wall.

I used a technique of Bansksy style black stencils, but over quite detailed colouring and bold backgrounds.

One great moment was when a whole class of primary school kids passed by. They knew of my work and were very excited to have a photo taken with the new dinosaurs going up.

For those who like to know secrets, the names of my stencil cutting man Ed and also the formidable Liz who puts in so much effort in coordinating and maintaining the Dinosaur Trail, have been included. Can you find them?

Deaf Academy Street Artist Workshop

I was asked to run an activity day at the Exmouth Deaf Academy. After getting the kids to write there Street Artist Nickname on hi-viz vests, we started stencilling. It was a great day, lots of fist bumps!
